A bit about us:

Meet Coach Karen

Coaching Qualifications: Rochdale Coach of the Year (2014), Higher National Diploma in Sports Studies – Coaching and Development, British Triathlon Federation Level 2 Coach with Open Water CPD; ASA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming and a member of UK Coaching.

Coaching experience: I’ve worked with swimmers from many different backgrounds and abilities for over 20 years; supporting adults and children learning to swim, stroke improvement, overcoming their fear of open water or competing at their highest level.

Swimming ExperienceMy passion for swimming threads through every aspect of my life. I used to work for Swim England and volunteer in Triathlon. I’m a keen open water swimmer and can often be found open water swimming around the North Wests finest stretches of water.

What were your aims for this year? This years aim was to complete Lakesman Half and to build up my cycling fitness.

What are your aims now? Lakesman Half 2021 (hopefully). To build on my fitness through swimming, multisport  yoga, and to coach more.

What do some of Karen’s swimmers say about her?

🏊‍♀️ “Over the past few weeks at least 4 different people have commented on what a good swimmer I am. One lady said to me today “I wish I could swim like you”, this made me smile because I used to look at other swimmers and think the same, so this is all helping to build my confidence. I did tell them I have a very good swimming coach. you’re quite clearly doing a good job.”
