Whether you’re looking to try open water swimming for the first time, or a seasoned open water swimmer, we can help you with our structured pathway of open water sessions
We are excited to be working with Salford Watersports Centre at Salford Quays to provide their open water coaching.
The set-up at Salford Watersports Centre is great for coaching. As well as a number of courses (300m and 500m) to test your fitness and skills on, there is a dedicated coaching area (approximately swimming pool sized).
Our open water swimming sessions cater for a range of abilities and experience from those new to open water to seasoned open water swimmers and triathletes.
To support swimmers of all levels and interests with their aims, we have a mix of regular weekly sessions (121s/221s and intros), and we have a rotating timetable of specialised sessions to ensure a diverse coaching programme for everyone.

Our 1-2-1s are tailored to you and if you have an open water goal, we can support you with it.
Depending on your goals, our qualified Swim England and British Triathlon open water coaches can work from the coaching pontoon or out on the water in a kayak/SUP with you.
Popular goals we have helped swimmers with are:
- building confidence in open water
- working on any open water worries/anxieties
- adapting stroke technique (breaststroke, front crawl or even butterfly) to optimise swimming in a wetsuit
- improving open water skills such as sighting and turning
- preparing for triathlon and open water events/races
- discovering the joys of swimming outdoors!

This one off-session is aimed at adults with limited or no open water experience who can swim 8 lengths/200m comfortably whilst out of your depth on any stroke on your front in a swimming pool
This session covers the skills you need to transition from the pool to the open water e.g. acclimatisation, putting on a wetsuit, and essential open water skills
To keep everyone safe, we are working with current COVID-19 government, RLSS, BTF and Swim England guidance for coaching.
These sessions have 6 swimmers per group which allows everyone to progress at their own pace and receive individual corrections. Our Swim England/BTF Level 2 open water or triathlon qualified coaches will tailor the session to meet the aims and abilities of the group.

These sessions progress the skills learned in our ‘intro to open water session’ and are for swimmers who are competent in the water that want to develop their swimming (technique and fitness) and their open water skills.
These sessions have 6 swimmers per group which allows everyone to progress at their own pace and receive individual corrections. Our Swim England/BTF Level 2 open water or triathlon qualified coaches will tailor the session to meet the aims and abilities of the group.

This session will help get you ready for your event in open water. It will cover event strategies and preparation; tips for wetsuit and skins swimming; plus open water skills e.g. sighting, turning and drafting.
Pre requisites:
- completed an intro to open water swimming or have swum in open water before
- be comfortable swimming at least 300m in open water

This session is aimed breaststroke open water swimmers wishing to transition to front crawl or for those swimmers who are newer to front crawl to develop their technique.
Pre-requisites:
- be comfortable swimming a minimum of 200m breaststroke

This session is designed for swimmers who are already confident swimming front crawl over 200 metres and want to improve technique, efficiency, and speed. Perfect if you are aiming to enjoy your swimming more, or sharpen your skills for an event.
Pre-requisites:
- be comfortable swimming a minimum of 200m front crawl out of your depth

Bespoke 1-1 or 2-1 sessions designed to your cold open water aims. Our coaches are here to safely support your cold-water goals. It’s the same price for 2 people, the price will be reduced as you book 2 people into the session.
Please note we recommend that only experienced swimmers swim with us during April due to water temperature.
When: November to April
Our safety and coaching teams have consulted with leading cold-water experts to create a one-off session for experienced open water swimmers who want to learn more about swimming in cold water (i.e. outside of the traditional May- September season) and how to do it safely. This session will cover the essentials, such as respecting your limits, how to acclimatise, how to re-warm afterward, dynamic risk assessments, how to keep yourself and your swimming buddy safe.
Please note we recommend that only experienced swimmers swim with us during April due to water temperature.
