A bit about us:

Meet Coach Llŷr

Coaching Qualifications: Degree in Sport and Business Management; British Triathlon Federation Level 2 Coach; STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming. National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and a member of the STA and the BTF.

Coaching experience: I’ve been involved in coaching for nearly 20 years and I worked with swimmers of all ages and abilities from beginners up to World championship level Age Group triathletes.

Sporting Experience: I swam competitively up until my mid-teens before concentrating on football. I played semi-professional football for Aberystwyth Town in the Welsh Premier League. I’ve represented GB in the Age Group World Championships in Auckland and London.

What were your aims for this year? Swim sub 1hr in my first Ironman at Ironman Wales

What are your aims now? I came off my bike end of May, puncturing a lung and fracturing 4 ribs!  This has paused my training.  On my return I’ll do land exercises until September.  Then I’ll return to the pool to get a solid winter block, in prep for IM Wales next year.

What do some of Llŷr’s swimmers say about him?

🏊🏻‍♂️ “Llyr’s coaching experience is evident from talking to him! I really appreciate how he took the time to get to understand me and my sporting background and so that he could tailor the sessions to my needs.”

🏊🏽‍♂️ “I noticed the difference with my front crawl from my first session with him! He taught me how to exhale in the water and I’m amazed at the difference that it made!”

🏊🏿‍♂️ “In 90 minutes, Llyr took me from permanently swimming with my head above the water to completing one length of front crawl, with correct breathing and my head in! Amazing! Thank you!”
